1  Suggested songs

An email has been sent (12 May) enclosing a Word doc table with 25 suggested songs.  It is the first of three such pages and not all will be used at the next session on 14 May.

2  The list

The songs have been selected from a long list here.  Reader contribution and comment welcomed via here.

3  The plan

3.1

My plan is to talk to patients from 1100 and give them a sheet listing the suggested songs.  During brief discussion, they can tell me which songs are of interest and suggest others.  I will arrive c 1045 if staff need to talk first.

3.2

Ideally, a staff member could sit nearby and record the results.  If not, I can work alone.  A quiet musical instrument will be used as appropriate.  Perhaps youtube videos will be shown.

3.3

Assuming the ongoing three patients are present etc, we will proceed to the dining room to sing songs.  If others join us, so much the better.

3.4

Staff might review what they read here and we can work out a short-term plan (firstly via email and then ) on 28 May when I will arrive at an earlier time to be decided.  1030?

4  Aims

4.1

The main aim is for patients to migrate to the song sessions when they feel they want to.  No coercion is planned.

4.2

Patients who sing on a regular basis might be encouraged in due course, to decide how we operate.   They could be encouraged to think about ways to increase the group size.

4.3

It is hoped that patients will use musical instruments in due course.

4.4

The mix of old and new songs will change.  "New" means entirely new and not songs within this series of pages.

4.5

It is hoped to meet the other song coordinator - Tuesdays?
